CAPA toured to schools across Yorkshire with Fusion. A showcase of award winning dance, drama and musical theatre. Accompanied by a full package of workshops. Toured from the 24th January to the 4th February 2011.
Frantic Assembly led Physical Theatre workshops with CAPA students. The workshops developed the students Physical Theatre skills as well as exploring the themes and creative processes behind Frantic Assembly’s latest production ‘A Beautiful Burnout’ that students then went to watch at Sheffield Lyceum. http://www.franticassembly.co.uk
Year 1 CAPA students received rave reviews for their contemporary version of Macbeth when they performed at Wakefield Theatre Royal as part of the national Shakespeare for Schools Festival.
Renowned commercial dancer and choreographer Nader Musharbash was guest teacher at CAPA during September. Nader, who has danced for Cheryl Cole, Pink and Alexandra Burke amongst many others, delivered Commercial Dance classes to the CAPA students.
CAPA students spent the day working with Ballet Boyz dancer Anthony Middleton. Anthony, who originally trained, performed and choreographed with CAPA’s resident arts partner Momentum Dance, is now working for Sadlers Wells based company ‘The Ballet Boyz.’ Anthony delivered release based technique classes and choreographic workshops for CAPA students. http://www.balletboyz.com/
CAPA will be performing, teaching and exhibiting at The Dance Show taking place at Birmingham NEC from 2nd-5th December 2010. CAPA has been selected to perform the premiere of their new choreography on the Main Stage of this prestigious event alongside the UK’s leading dance colleges and companies including Rambert Dance Company.
Applications for CAPA 2011 are now open for both the Performing Arts and Production Arts course pathways. Application forms are available to download or by contacting CAPA. Alternatively students from Wakefield schools may apply via through the common application process. Auditions and interviews will take place from January 2011.
CAPA 2010 exam results were outstanding with students achieving a 100% Pass Rate and 95% A-C!
Another cohort of CAPA graduates are now studying at the country’s leading Performing Arts conservatoires, colleges and universities. September 2010 saw the latest cohort of CAPA graduates begin their Higher Education Performing Arts training at Urdang Academy, London Studio Centre, Rambert School, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, LCPA, Blackpool and Fylde College, Arden College and London Metropolitan University.
Well done to CAPA students who celebrated excellent Post-16 exam results this Summer. The overall results were: 100% A*-E 95% A*-C 83% A*-B
